Birgunj, July 10: A high quality blacktopping has been done on the Pathlaiya-Hetauda section of the East-West Highway. The standard blacktopping is done in two kilometers of Adhabhar area so that it could have high bearing capacity.
The Road Division Office, Hetauda informed that the road with high quality pitch had come into operation. Information officer at the office, Ramesh Pande, said the Pathlaiya-Hetauda road section see transportation of heavy load every day, so it was prioritized for augmented pitch. Now, the road section won’t suffer subsidence, he added.
It is a model road using ‘DBM’ for the first phase. In the second phase, there will be an asphalt pitch, which also does not see the surface sinking. “For the experiment, 40-grade bitumen was used for blacktopping. It will be replicated based on its sustainability,” he added.
The project for it was contracted at Rs 41 million five months back. However, the slow performance of contractor and adverse weather slightly delayed the project completion.
