Himalaya Airlines supports Prayas Nepal’s children’s start-up



Kathmandu, May 15: Himalaya Airlines continues its commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through its “Step Towards Education” initiative with Prayas Nepal for the seventh consecutive year of support. As a part of the initiative, the airline handed over the annual supply of educational materials such as notebooks, registers, and academic course books of various grades to the children for their academic session of 2080 during a program at Prayas Nepal on May 11, 2023.

Applauding the children’s urge to follow the path of independency, this year the airlines organized a special knowledge sharing session for the children’s start–up initiative of a restaurant – ‘Love Appetite,’ to hone their cooking and entrepreneurial skills, the Airlines says in a statement.

During the brief session organized by the airlines, Mr. Aakash Lama, Instructor from Nepal Academy of Travel and Hotel Management (NATHM) voluntarily guided the children and the team of Love Appetite, focusing on kitchen safety, hygiene, menu planning (costing, pricing strategy), recipe sharing of dishes and kitchen etiquettes etc. The airlines brand team also enlightened on various marketing and branding techniques from the promotion and publicity perspective and provided them with a specially designed menu potentially helping the start-up to grow in a more efficient and professional manner.

Expressing the airlines’ pride in supporting such a noble cause Ms. Ujjwala Dali, Head of Department – Brand shared, ” In our seven years’ of association with Prayas Nepal, we are really happy to see the children pursuing their dreams through our ‘Step towards Education’ Initiative and are grappling to stand on their own feet to become independent in life. Through this restaurant start-up, the children have best displayed their learnings and ability to walk ahead with dignity in life. Himalaya Airlines is pleased to see their achievements and extends best wishes for many more in every child’s dream! As always, Himalaya will extend the best possible support to fulfill our core objective of Societal Responsibility.”

Ms. Mani Joshi, President of Prayas Nepal, expressed deep appreciation for Himalaya Airlines’ continued support and that it has not only boosted the children’s academic performance but also helped them develop a love for learning. She further added “We are fortunate to have an airline like Himalaya who values education and is dedicated to make a positive impact in their communities. We are grateful with your additional support this year, to train our youth for enhancing their skills to run the restaurant smoothly.”

Prayas Nepal was established in 2003 with a fore thought to empower the underprivileged children through education, awareness and skillful training. The organization is running a children’s home for orphan, abandoned and physically challenged children from different parts of Nepal for last two decades.

Starting September 2021, H9 introduced Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), a life-saving device onboard all its fleet.
