Kathmandu, Nov 23: In a bid to conduct the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner, the Ministry of Home Affairs has advanced the preparations for the purchase of vehicles for all three security bodies.
The Home Minister’s Secretariat stated that processes for the procurement of vehicles have advanced in a smooth manner after getting a nod from the Finance Ministry.
The processes for the purchase of vehicles for security agencies have reached the final stage after the Finance Ministry released resources.
During the Gen-Z protests, a large number of vehicles of the security bodies were destroyed in vandalism, and arson.
The Finance Ministry has approved Rs 351.1 million for the purchase of 156 vehicles for the Nepal Police. Likewise, an additional of Rs 453 million of budget is also approved for buying an additional 106 vehicles.
As shared by the officials from the Home Ministry, 75 pick-up vans, a prisoner van, 41 electric vehicles, 10 escort pick-up vans and vehicles for 28 offices would be purchased.
Similarly, the Finance Ministry has ensured resources to buy 59 vehicles for the Armed Police Force, Nepal. Those 59 vehicles include three for disaster response, 50 Bolero pick-up vans, three riot control trucks and two ambulances.
Furthermore, the Finance Ministry has released Rs 28 million for the procurement of some vehicles for the National Investigation Department, according to the Home Ministry. #genz #nepal #election
