ICC World Cup League-2: Nepal defeats Papua New Guinea by 4 wickets



Kathmandu, Feb 27: Nepal defeated Papua New Guinea by four wickets in the triangular one-day international series under ICC World Cricket League-2. In League-2, Nepal has won consecutively in the last five matches.

Nepal completed the target of 204 runs set by Papua New Guinea at Dubai International Cricket Ground in United Arab Emirates (UAE) by losing 6 wickets in 45.2 overs. Kushal Bhurtel contributed 56 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Aasif Sheikh contributed 44, Aarif Sheikh 33, Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel 20, Dipendra Singh Airee 22 and Kushal Malla contributed 12 unbeaten runs.

In terms of bowling, captain Assad Vala took three wickets and Norman Vanua and Sese Bau took one wicket each for Papua New Guinea.

Before that, Papua New Guinea, who lost the toss and was invited to bat first, lost nine wickets in the scheduled 50 overs and scored 203 runs. For Papua New Guinea, Chad Soper scored an unbeaten 36, captain Assad Vala scored 36, Sese Bau scored 31, Kiplin Doriga scored 29, Norman Vanua scored 25 and Hiri Hiri added 10 runs.

On the bowling side, Gulsan Jha of Nepal took three wickets, Kushal Malla two wickets and Sompal Kami, Karan KC and Pratish GC took one wicket each. With the win, Nepal is in sixth place in the league with 28 points in 29 games.
