Impeachment Recommendation Committee’s meeting to be held on Wednesday

Kathmandu : The Impeachment Recommendation Committee is to convene yet again on Wednesday.

The parliamentarians in today’s meeting of the Committee viewed that if the report prepared by the Committee formed ahead of election does not get entertained in the parliament, it would be insignificant.

In the meeting held at Singha Durbar, Chair of Committee Ram Bahadur Bista expressed his concern on whether the Committee’s report would be presented in the committee for a decision.

The Committee, formed merely three months before the election, ought to deliver within this period. The provincial assembly and House of Representatives election are scheduled to be held on November 20 later this year.

Parliamentarian Bista questioned, “The nomination for election is on September 18. Would the report we prepare be presented in the parliament? What’s the point of preparing the report if it does not go through the parliamentary process?” Krishna Bhakta Pokahrel, chairperson of the parliamentary Law, Justice and Human Right Committee opined that the Committee’s report should be relevant. Otherwise it would be meaningless.

Parliamentarians Yasodha Gurung Subedi, Min Bahadur Bishwakarma and Iqbal Miya said that since six months had elapsed and thus they viewed that the Committee should move ahead with time-table to accomplish all the works within a month.

Wednesday’s meeting will discuss on the draft of the procedure and mull how to move ahead, said Committee’s chair Bista.

Today’s meeting postponed without entering the agenda. Thus, the Committee is convening on Wednesday again.
