Birgunj, Sept 25: The import of four-wheelers at Birgunj Customs has decreased in the first two months of the current financial year 2081/82 BS (2024/25).
By the end of September 16 of the current year, 230 jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs. 42,40,00,000 have been imported while a total of 306 jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs. 45,90,61,000 were imported in the same period last year.
Compared to the previous year, the import has decreased by 24.84 percent based on the number of four-wheelers during the same period of the current year. Deepak Lamichhane, Chief Customs Administrator of Birgunj Customs Office, said that the import of four-wheeled vehicles has decreased during the first two months of the current year.
“Compared to the previous year, the import of both petroleum-powered vehicles and electric vehicles has decreased,” he said. “Electric vehicles have been imported more through the northern border than the Birgunj customs border. Despite this, the overall import of vehicles has decreased, which has directly affected revenue collection.”
According to custom office, a total of 54 electric cars, jeeps, and vans were imported from Birgunj custom point. Last year, a total of 58 electric cars, jeeps, and vans were imported. Compared to the previous year, the import has decreased by 6.90 percent.
Likewise, 28 trucks and mini-trucks worth Rs. 6,02,00,000 have been imported. Last year 68 trucks and mini-trucks were imported.
In the first two months of the current year, 38 pickup and delivery vans and 76 mini-buses and micro-buses were imported.
In the first two months of the current year, the import of two-wheelers has doubled as compared to last year. According to custom data, a total of 16,384 motorcycles worth were imported. During the same period last year, 9,264 motorcycles were imported. Mostly, Nepali riders use India-made motorcycles in Nepal. #vehicles #import #nepal
