Independent candidate Hamal elected Mayor of Dhangadhi

DHANGADHI: Independent candidate Gopal Hamal has been elected as the Mayor of Dhangadhi sub-metropolis. He won with 26,865 votes while the common candidate of ruling alliance Nrip Bahadur Oda of the Nepali Congress got received 14,817 votes.

Likewise, Rana Bahadur Chand of CPN (UML) garnered 9,115 votes to come third, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer.

Meanwhile, CPN (UML) candidate Kandakala Rana has been elected as the Deputy Mayor. She received 15,479 votes while the CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Shanti Adhikari received 12,670 votes.

A total of 63,647 votes had been cast in the sub-metropolitan city elections, which has 93,151 eligible voters.

Nepali Congress wins in 10 local levels in Dhanusa

The results of the May 13 local level elections in 16 out of 18 municipalities in Dhanusha district have been made public. Counting of votes of two municipalities is underway.

Among the results announced so far, Nepali Congress has won in 10 local levels, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) in three, CPN (UML) in two and CPN (Maoist Center) in one local level.

According to the District Election Office, the results of Janakpurdham Sub-Municipal Corporation and Kshireshwar Nath Municipality are yet to come. According to the latest results, Bhogendra Mishra of the Nepali Congress has won the post of Laxminiya rural municipality chair and Phool Kumari Yadav of the same party as the vice-chair.

UML’s Uma Shankar Prasad Sah and Poonam Sah of the same party have been elected as the chair and vice-chair of Aurahi rural municipality respectively. In Dhanauji rural municipality, Raj Kumar Sah and Ramwati Devi Mandal of Congress were elected the chair and vice-chair respectively.

Similarly, Dipin Dev of JSP has been elected as the chair of Janakandini rural municipality while Kamala Sehgal of Nepali Congress was elected as the vice-chair.

UML candidate Bechan Das Tatma has been re-elected as the mayor of Bideha municipality for the second term while Asha Jha of the same party has also been re-elected as the deputy mayor. Bidyadevi Bhujel of the Nepali Congress has been elected as the mayor of Dhanushadham municipality.

Congress candidate Bisheshwar Yadav has been elected as the mayor of Kamala municipality and Shiladevi Mandal has been elected as the deputy mayor. In Sahidnagar municipality, JSP candidate Dinesh Prasad Yadav and Congress candidate Sunita Kumari Singh have been elected as mayor and deputy mayor respectively.

JSP’s Jayakumar Yadav and Saida Khatun have been elected as the chair and vice-chair of Mukhiyapatti Musaharania rural municipality. Congress candidate Ram Ashish Mahato has been elected as the chair of Bateshwor rural municipality and Phool Kumari Singh of the same party as the vice-chair.

Mahendra Mahato of the Nepali Congress has been elected as the Mayor of Mithila municipality and Sunita Singh Budhatho of the CPN-UML as the deputy mayor. Similarly, Congress candidate Binay Kumar Yadav and UML candidate Radhadevi Yadav have been elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively of the Nagarain municipality.

Jit Narayan Yadav and Tulsa Kumari Pandey have been elected as Ganeshman Charnath Municipality Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively. Similarly, Maoist center candidate Kariram Yadav and Rahima Khatun have been elected as the mayor and deputy mayor of Sabaila municipality.

Congress candidate Pradip Yadav has been elected as the mayor of Hanspur municipality and Durga Devi the deputy chief. Similarly, Nepali Congress candidate Rajendra Prasad Yadav and Maoist center candidate Sobhadevi Sah have been elected as the mayor and deputy mayor of Mithila Bihari Municipality respectively.

Likewise, Nepali Congress candidate Hemkarna Poudel has been elected the Mayor of Itahari sub-metropolitan city. He won the post of Mayor with 33,049 votes beating his nearest rival Yam Kumar Chungwang Subba of the CPN (UML), who got 28,031 votes.

Similarly, UML candidate Sangita Kumari Chaudhary has been elected the deputy Mayor with 32,436 votes. Her nearest rival was CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Keshav Kumar Bista, who received 18,031 votes, according to the Office of the Returning Officer.
