Myagdi, Jan 6: A campus building and a hostel block constructed with the assistance of the Government of India have been handed over to the Myagdi Multiple Campus management today.
Consular at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Avinash Kumar Singh and Chief of the District Coordination Committee (DCC), Raj Kumar Thapa, jointly inaugurated the buildings by unveiling the stone inscription. The buildings were also handed over to the Campus management on the occasion.
Campus Chief Shreedhar Subedi said two classroom blocks with total 16 rooms and a girls’ hostel block with eight rooms were constructed at an investment of Rs 28.3 million by the Government of India.
These campus buildings were constructed through the then District Development Committee (DDC).
On the occasion, Indian Embassy’s Consular Singh said 583 India-assisted projects, including 79 in Gandaki Province, have been implemented throughout the country. He added that India, which is Nepal’s major development partner, has implemented projects giving priority to those related to education and health.
DCC Chief Thapa and Beni Municipality Mayor Surat KC said it is necessary to make the Myagdi Campus well appointed with technology along with the physical infrastructure.
They said that the site on the bank of the Kaligandaki river, from where large rocks were excavated and send to Ayodhya, India two years back for construction of statue at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, is being developed into an ablution spot with the installation of a Devshila memorial pillar. Thapa and KC also expected assistance from India for that purpose.
