Kathmandu Valley nowadays facing menace of plotting, particularly the developers are found active to encroach rare forest area. Increasing urbanization has hit the surrounding hills of the valley. The riparian zone is also the catchment area of the valley. The unscientific plotting has played a key role to drying up of the water sources. The settlements along the river are linked to the history and civilization of the valley. The indigenous settlements of the valley and the culture it preserves are slowly disintegrating with the plotting of land. Unauthorized, such settlement expansion without proper environmental engineering study has increased the risk of landslides as well. Environmental activists have been raising voice against such encroachment for a long time, but a nexus of interest groups as developers have ignored these suggestions.

These are only the representatives images. If we visit surrounding area of Kathmandu Valley, we can find active developers working freely. If such activities continue for some years, these lovely hills surrounding the valley would be barren.
