Kathmandu, Jan 21: The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has been urged to explain the reason behind recent price hike of construction-related materials.
In today’s meeting of the Public Account Committee, most of the lawmakers had raised the issue about the sky-rocketing price hike of construction materials.
After the meeting, Committee President Rishikesh Pokharel made a ruling to call the Ministry for discussion on Wednesday about the issue.
The meeting decided to form a seven-member subcommittee under coordination of lawmaker Sanjay Kumar Gautam to study on the various complaints lodged with the Committee and to present the most important complaints in the committee soon.
Likewise, the meeting decided to ask for the study reports the committee had demanded with government time and again, as the reports were not received yet. It called the government’s attention on the issue of shortage of chemical fertilizers, among others, said President Pokharel.
