Inter-caste marriage: Youth said to be disappeared found



HUMLA: A youth who was allegedly made to disappear for marrying a woman from another caste has come in police contact.

The youth from the Dalit community had married a woman belonging to the Malla caste.

He was reportedly kidnapped, beaten and disappeared by the people from the girl’s parental family.

Immediately after getting the information about the incident, the District Police Office Humla directed the police posts under it to intensify the search for the missing youth.

The Kharpunath Police Post found the youth this morning, District Police Office Humla’s Inspector Dansingh Bhandari said.

As he said, the police personnel from Kharpunath Police Post found the boy walking on the road.

The youth is now in police’s contact.

Chandre Kami, 19, of Jaira, Sarkegad Rural Municipality-1, had married Suntali Malla, 19, of Lipru, Soru Rural Municipality in Mugu district.

The two had eloped and married on November 21. Theirs was a case of inter-caste marriage and annoyed by this a group of around 20 people from the girl’s parental family side the night of December 15 had attacked Kami and abducted him.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Heramba Sharma from the District Police Office Humla had reached the incident site and involved in the search soon after receiving the information on the incident.

The District Police Office Humla said they will carry out further investigation into the case after interviewing both the boy’s and girl’s side.

Police have already taken the girl and her father under control for investigation.
