Kathmandu, June 3: The final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will be played today between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Both teams have been waiting for their first-ever title for the past 18 years.
The match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and is scheduled to start at 7:45 PM. IPL is set to get a new champion after three years. The last time a new team won the title was in 2022 when Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals in the final.
RCB have reached the final for the record fourth time, while PBKS are playing in their second final. This is the first-ever final clash between these two rival teams. RCB previously lost the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016, whereas PBKS lost their only final in 2014.
In IPL history, PBKS and RCB have played 36 matches against each other — both teams have won 18 games each. This will be their second encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Interestingly, the two sides also met in Qualifier 1 of this season, where RCB won by 8 wickets. Tonight’s final will be the fourth meeting between them this season — RCB have won twice, and PBKS once.
