Kathmandu, Feb 15: Dr. Ram Chandra Bhusal has been unanimously re-elected as President for the fourth consecutive term in the election of the Nepal JICA Alumni Association (JAAN).
An agricultural expert with a Ph.D. from Ehime University, Japan, Dr. Bhusal also serves as the current Secretary General of the JICA Alumni Association Forum of SAARC Countries (JAAFSC), the umbrella organization of SAARC JICA Alumni.
In this election, all executive members were elected unanimously.
The elected officials are as follows: Dr. Kiran Rupakheti as Vice President, Shanti Laxmi Shakya as General Secretary, Bibhakalika Malla Shrestha as Treasurer, Yamlal Bhusal as Secretary, and Babul Khanal as Joint Treasurer.
The elected executive members include Sushil Kumar Bhattachan, Binod Kumar Bhattarai, Paras Paudel, Surya Prasad Baral, Uma Shrestha, and Tara Khanal.
Dr. Bhusal is an agriculture expert and a Team Leader in an Agricultural Promotion Project supported by the Japan Nepal Society, Tokyo.
Dr. Kiran Rupakheti, Yamlal Bhusal, and Binod Kumar Bhattarai currently serve as Joint Secretaries in the Government of Nepal, while Surya Prasad Baral holds the position of Under Secretary.
Similarly, Shanti Laxmi Shakya is a former Deputy Managing Director at the Nepal Electricity Authority, Paras Paudel is the current Director of the National Judicial Academy Nepal, and Sushil Kumar Bhattachan is a former Chief Advisor at JICA Nepal.
Other officials and members are also affiliated with various government and non-government organizations. The JAAN Executive Committee Election is held every three years.
The JICA Alumni Association of Nepal (JAAN) is a social organization comprising current and retired government officials of Nepal, technical experts from various public sectors, academics, independent professionals, and businesspersons who have studied in Japan.
JAAN was established with the objective of strengthening the long-standing friendship between the governments and people of Nepal and Japan while utilizing the knowledge and skills acquired in Japan for the development of Nepal.
Since its inception in 1973, the organization has been actively engaged in various initiatives. JAAN collaborates with the Embassy of Japan, JICA Nepal, the Government of Nepal, the Japan Nepal Society, and other governmental and non-governmental organizations to conduct diverse programs.
Recognizing JAAN’s outstanding contributions, the Government of Japan honored the organization with the Foreign Minister Commendation Award last year. #JAAN #JICA #nepal
