KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Janamorcha has again taken action against Gandaki state assembly member Krishna Thapa. On Thursday, Thapa was fired for violating the party whip, said Piyari Thapa, a Janamorcha leader.
On the proposal of Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung to take a vote of confidence, the Janamorcha had issued a whip to vote in the opposition and not to remain neutral. But state assembly member Thapa remained neutral.
The Janamorcha has informed the state assembly about the action. And, the state assembly is preparing to announce Thapa’s resignation in today’s meeting.
Thapa was also sacked by the Janamorcha earlier for violating the party whip. However, Thapa had gone to the Supreme Court claiming that the directive issued by the party was outdated.
A single bench of Supreme Court Justice Kumar Chudal, while holding a preliminary hearing on his writ petition, had issued an interim order to reinstate Thapa.
The interim order stated that the whip issued for a particular task was subject to legal interpretation as to whether the party could be deemed to have violated the Political Parties Act due to the change of circumstances.
