Lalitpur, Jan 30: Newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Toru Maeda, has assured that Japan’s economic and technical assistance for Nepal’s development will continue.
Speaking at a welcome event organized by the Nepal JICA Alumni Association (JAAN), Ambassador Maeda highlighted the long-standing, friendly, and close ties between Nepal and Japan.
He stated, “Currently, around 200,000 Nepalis are engaged in studies, various professions, and businesses in Japan. There is still a demand for skilled Nepali people who are knowledgeable about the Japanese language, culture, and society.”
Recalling his past visit to Nepal, Ambassador Maeda expressed his delight in witnessing Nepal’s beautiful mountains and the warm hospitality of its people. Now, serving as the Japanese ambassador, he feels even more honored and excited to be in Nepal. He acknowledged JAAN’s contributions in strengthening bilateral ties and expressed confidence that its members will continue to play a significant role in Nepal’s development.
JAAN President Dr. Ram Chandra Bhusal emphasized the organization’s contributions over the past five decades, including introducing Japanese technology to Nepal and supporting economic growth. JAAN has also been actively involved in community development projects in Lalitpur and Sindhupalchowk, including the plantation of Japan’s iconic Sakura trees.
The event was attended by JICA Nepal’s Chief Resident Representative Mizuki Matsuzaki, senior government officials, JAAN members, and high-ranking officials from the Japanese Embassy and JICA Nepal, along with distinguished personalities from various fields. #nepal #JICA #JAAN #nepal #Japan
