Kakarvitta border opened for third-country people

Birtamod, Aug 7: Kakarvitta serving as the major transit point in eastern Nepal has been opened for the people for third countries. The transit point along the Nepal-India border in Jhpa district was closed for tourists from the third world countries with the Covid-19 pandemic.

It has been reopened for them after four years, said Mohan Pariyar, the Chief of Immigration Office, Kakarvitta.

Earlier, there was reservation from the Indian site to allow the entry for tourists from third countries, through Nepal has already withdrawn the provisions restricting the arrivals of tourism enforced with the outbreak of Covid-19.

The Office was informed about the reopening of the border by the Indian side from August1.

Since them, people from third world have started arriving here via India and departures from Nepal have also commenced.

It is noted that tourism entrepreneurs were concerned over the long closure of the Kakarvitaa point for the arrivals of third countries’ people.

With the withdrawal of the restrictions, citizens from over a dozen nations including the UK, the US and Switzerland have entered Nepal via India and the vice- versa movement is going on.
