Kathmandu, Dec 15: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah has said that the metropolitan city is focused on minimizing operational costs while improving the quality of services delivered to citizens.
Addressing the 31st anniversary function of KMC here today, Mayor Shah said the scope of house rent tax has been expanded and that the revenue collected from taxpayers is being utilized for the benefit of the citizens themselves.
He shared updates on various infrastructure-related projects, including road upgrading and the installation of traffic lights. As part of a nighttime urban beautification campaign, a total of 13,340 electric lights have been installed across Kathmandu.
Mayor Shah said that in the last fiscal year, KMC implemented infrastructure projects worth Rs 2.86 billion, while Rs 910 million was invested in heritage conservation.
According to him, the metropolitan city has so far reclaimed 208 ropanis of public land valued at approximately Rs 23 billion.
He added that priority is being given to the promotion of entrepreneurship by utilizing locally available resources and skills. The transfer of indigenous skills will be advanced through the ‘One Ward, One Scheme’ programme.
Mayor Shah stated that KMC’s core areas of work include economic, social, and administrative sectors, adding that urban sanitation and e-governance are being pursued with equal importance. #nepal #kmc #balen
