KMC honours 10 various individuals on its 30th Establishment Day



Kathmandu, Dec 14: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has honoured 10 different individuals with Rs 150,000 each on the occasion of its 30th Establishment Day.

At a programme organized by KMC here today, 10 individuals including painter Kiran Manandhar were honoured with cash prize.

Folk singer Kumar Basnet, painter Kiran Manandhar, Dr Arun Sayami, former mayor of KMC, PL Singh, artist Narendra Kansakar, litterateur Malla K Sundar were honoured.

Other personalities honoured by KMC are Taekwondo player Sangina Baidya, volleyball player Pratibha Mali, ultra marathon runner Mina Rai and cricketer Gyanendra Malla.

Service delivered by KMC is exemplary for other local levels: VP Yadav

Meanwhile, Vice-President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has said the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has made its folks feel that the government is at their door step.

At a programme organized by KMC on the occasion of 30th KMC Day here today, Vice-President Yadav shared that people have been getting easy and smooth services at their door steps through activeness of local levels.

On the occasion, he mentioned that Kathmandu metropolis, which is rich in cultural, historical and archaeological heritages, is the capital of federal democratic republic Nepal.

The Vice-President laid emphasis on the need of protecting cultural assets found in world heritage site. Saying service delivered by KMC to voters is exemplary for other local levels, he stressed that youths should play strong role in implementing federalism.

He lauded the role played by KMC to beautify city, promote greenery, conservation of heritages like temples and shrines.

Similarly, Mayor Balendra Shah said his attention has been focused to build a livable metropolis for the citizens of all 77 districts.

Likewise, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol shared that KMC has given first priority to infrastructure development.

On Mangsir 29, 2052, Kathmandu was declared a metropolitan city. Since then, this day has been celebrated as Metropolitan Day.
