Kathmandu, Dec 13: The Korea Visa Application Centre (KVAC) was officially inaugurated in Kathmandu on Friday, marking a significant milestone in enhancing visa application services for Nepali citizens travelling to the Republic of Korea.
The Centre, located at the OneSky Building in Lalitpur, was inaugurated in the presence of Park Tae-young, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal; Song Mi-sun, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HanaTour; senior officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and representatives from the local business community.
Amid a rapid increase in visa applications driven by expanding bilateral exchanges between Nepal and Korea, the KVAC—operated by HanaTour—has been entrusted with facilitating and streamlining the visa application process.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ambassador Park expressed confidence that the Centre would significantly improve accessibility and convenience for Nepali applicants seeking visas to Korea.
CEO Song Mi-sun highlighted HanaTour’s extensive experience in the field, stating, “HanaTour brings 30 years of global expertise in operating travel and visa services, including the successful management of visa centres in countries such as China, Vietnam, and the Philippines. We are committed to delivering stable, highly sophisticated services in Nepal, ensuring optimal convenience for all applicants planning to visit Korea.”
The Centre enhances accessibility by extending visa application hours—previously limited to mornings—until 4:00 pm on weekdays. Telephone consultation services are available until 9:00 pm. The Centre also offers multiple payment options and region-specific customised services to further simplify the application process.
Likewise, KVAC features computer workstations for applicants and a dedicated VIP room, ensuring improved service quality and comfort.
“Building on a foundation of standardised services, we will operate the Korea Visa Application Centre in a manner tailored to regional characteristics. Through the introduction of a pre-reservation system and a centralised call centre, applicants will gain easier access to accurate information on Korean visas and real-time updates on their application status,” a KVAC representative said.
At present, the Centre provides value-added services such as SMS tracking and courier facilities, with plans to expand customer-oriented services in line with future demand.
The Centre is scheduled to begin operations on December 17, 2025. Its establishment marks an important step in developing a stable visa service infrastructure to meet growing demand in Nepal while further promoting people-to-people ties between the two countries. #nepal #korea #KVAC
