Kushal Malla sets world record, scores 137 runs in T20 match

Kathmandu, Sept 27: Nepali batsman Kushal Malla has set a world record in T20 cricket format. He managed to score 100 runs after facing just 34 balls played against Mongolia as part of Asiad 2023 in Hangzhou, China. He just faced 6 fours and 9 sixes. This was the fastest century by any individual in T20 cricket format.

However, he was unbeaten on 137 runs. Overall, he faced 50 balls and hit 12 sixes and 8 fours.

Earlier, Nepali team captain Paras Khadka set a record of century against Singapore facing just 49 balls in 2019.

Likewise, Nepal posted 315 runs target against Mongolia. Nepali team’s captain Rohit Paudel also scored 61 runs.

Dipendra Singh created history

Dipendra Singh Airee scored 52 runs in just 10 balls. He hit 8 sixes. According to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), he smashed the fastest T20I fifty from just 9 balls in Asian Games against Mongolia – Broke the record of Yuvraj Singh from 12 balls.

Likewise, Nepali opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel scored 19 and Aasif Sheikh scored 16 runs.

In the Asiad 2023, Mongolia, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, Hongkong, Thailand, Maldives and Malaysia will be playing at the group stage. However, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will directly qualify for final round.

The final will be played on October 7, 2023.
