Landslide buries one to death in Kaski, road obstruction

POKHARA: One person died and one other sustained injuries when a landslide buried a house at Pokhara metropolis-6, Dihikopatan this morning.

Santosh Sunar, 26, a tenant, died when the landslide followed by incessant rain broke down a single-storey house of local Laxmi Khadka Chhetri, shared Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office of Kaski, Sundar Tiwari.

Critically injured Sunar was rescued and rushed to the Paschimanchal Regional Hospital where doctors had pronounced him dead.

Likewise, Sunita Sunar, 27, elder sister of Santosh, who was also residing in the same house, has sustained injuries in the incident. Sunita was a permanent resident of Machhapuchhre rural municiplaity-1, Bhurjungkhola.

She is now receiving treatment at Gandaki Medical College, police said.

However, Sunita’s 10-year-old daughter was found unaffected in the incident, DSP Tiwari said.

A police team deputed from the District Police Office and the Armed Police Force Kalika had rescued the injured immediately after the incident.

Pokhara has witnessed incessant rainfall since last night.

Landslide disrupts Narayangarh-Muglin road traffic

The Narayangarh-Muglin road section has been disrupted due to rain-triggered landslide.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, two-way road traffic has been obstructed due to landslide nearby Bharatpur metropolis-29, Ghumaune along the road section.

Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office Rabin Bista informed that debris removal is taking place right now.

The area saw heavy rainfall since last night.
