Pokhara, July 12: Five out of seven persons killed in the landslide occurred last night in Pokhara metropolis-19, Purunchaur Tallakot of Kaski were cremated en masse.
Seven persons, including six members of Kul Bahadur Pariyar – a local of Puruchaur died when the landslide buried his house last night.
Five among the deceased were cremated en masse on the bank of the Seti River in Machhapuchhre rural municipality-2 this evening, informed Kishor Prasad Gautam, a local.
Kul Bahadur and his mother Lakshima, 85, wife Man Kumari, 43, daughter Prashna, 15, and neighbour Radhika Pariyar were cremated in the Seti.
Pokhara metropolitan city mayor Dhanraj Acharya, Pokhara-19 ward chair Pushpendra Pandey, people’s representatives and locals had reached Pokhara to pay homage to the deceased.
The last rites of the late Kul Bahadur’s daughter Prabha and son-in-law Asmit Pariyar residing in Arjun Chaupari rural municipality of Syangja, who also lost their lives in the same incident, will be performed only after the return of Asmit’s father from abroad, family sources said.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at the Western Regional Hospital under the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences. At least 11 people were killed in landslides at three different places in Kaski last night.
