
Kathmandu, Feb 17: In a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, lawmakers drew the government’s attentions to the recent fire at Haleshi Tuwachung municipality-7 in Khotang and other contemporary issues.
Saraswoti Bajimaya demanded the prompt relief to the fire survivors. She also applauded the contribution of security forces, local representatives and the locals who help avoid the potential human casualty and additional property loss from the incident that occurred on Sunday night.
Ram Kumar Rai apprised the House that the Halesi fire ended in the property losses over Rs 70 million, stating that it was taken under control through collective efforts of the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepali Army and the local people’s representatives, demanding prompt relief to the survivors.
Ashok Kumar Chaudhary demanded the availability of fire fighters in all districts to respond to potential incidents of fire with all preparedness.
Raghuji Pant said Nepal’s parliamentary system is bicameral and it is a wring practice to endorse a motion of apology by a house regarding the statement of a lawmaker from another house.
Birendra Mahoto said, “It is unfortunate that accused in a rape are yet to be brought into legal proceedings when the situation had led the survivor to commit suicide.”
Sita Kumari Rana expressed her concern over the health issues said to be caused by stress among school students in the western parts of Dailekh when the final exams of students are around the corner, calling the government to address the situation.
Surya Bahadur Thapa Chhatri stated that it was an unexpected question from the media to the Prime Minister, asking whether he was following in Hitler’s footsteps. He argued that a Prime Minister elected by parliament cannot be autocratic. He also added that he was also questioned whether he was under the total servitude of the Prime Minister.
Samjhana Thapaliya expressed her concern over an alleged gang rape in Siraha, which led to the victim claiming her life. She demanded that the home administration take steps to ensure that those responsible for the crime do not go unpunished. #fire #nepal
