Kathmandu, Feb 15: Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has claimed that his party was responsible for blocking the government’s ordinance from being passed from the parliament.
Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Saturday, Nepal stated that his party took the initiative to prevent the ordinance introduced by the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from moving forward.
According to Nepal, his party coordinated with the Maoist Centre, engaging in discussions and bringing other political parties together to halt the ordinance. He further alleged that there are still ongoing efforts to dissolve the parliament.
“KP Oli’s ordinance has been stalled—because of us. Everyone should remember that. We took the initiative, but we couldn’t do it alone. We collaborated with the Maoist Centre and consulted Prachanda, who encouraged us to take the lead. We held meetings, issued joint statements, and even prepared signatures internally to call for a special parliamentary session if the ordinance was not stopped.”
Additionally, Nepal accused the CPN-UML of losing its communist character under KP Oli’s leadership, claiming that the party no longer operates as a true political entity.
His remarks come amid heightened political tensions regarding the fate of various government ordinances, as well as discussions on constitutional amendments and parliamentary procedures. #nepal #madhav
