Madhes Chief Minister Krishna Yadav secures vote of confidence

Janakpurdham, Dec 20: Chief Minister of Madhes Province, Krishna Prasad Yadav, secured a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly.

During the Assembly meeting on Friday, Yadav received the support of 92 lawmakers, Deputy Speaker Babita Raut Ishar announced.

Chief Minister Yadav was backed by a seven-party alliance led by the Nepali Congress, which includes the Janata Samajbadi Party, Janamat Party, CPN (Maoist Centre), Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), and the Nagarik Unmukti Party. He also received support from the RPP Nepal and the Nepal Sanghiya Samajbadi Party, each of which holds one seat in the Assembly.

The main opposition party, CPN-UML, also voted Yadav, who was appointed Chief Minister on December 5 with the support of the seven-party alliance. In the 105-member Provincial Assembly, at least 54 votes are required to win a vote of confidence.

The current composition of the Assembly includes 24 members from the CPN-UML, 22 from the Nepali Congress, 18 from the Janata Samajbadi Party, 13 from the Janamat Party, nine from the CPN (Maoist Centre), eight from the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, seven from the CPN (Unified Socialist), and one member each from the RPP Nepal, the Nagarik Unmukti Party, and the Nepal Sanghiya Samajbadi Party. #nepal #madhes
