Kathmandu, Oct 2 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has pointed out that Mahatma Gandhi’s simple and peaceful lifestyle and Satyagraha has become more relevant at this point of time.

“Gandhi encouraged people to stand up for truth. He himself stood for truth. Gandhi’s strong peaceful thoughts became a strong instrument in freeing India from British colony,” he said at a programme organised by Nepal-India Friendship Society on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

“Gandhi path does not accept the use of arms and ammunition made through the help of science and technology. There is a need to keep everyone away from violence and fear.”

Similarly, former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that Gandhi was a prominent leader of the 20th Century and added that eternal happiness along with physical development would be taken ahead together to be a complete human in a dynamic society.

He further said that peaceful pressure and Gandhipath would be relevant in this globalization context.

Present on the occasion were former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Nepali Congress leader Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Puri.
