Mahottari voters complain about neglect of agriculture sector



Mahottari, Nov 24: Voters of Ramgopalpur-2 in Mahottari have complained to leaders of various political parties that the agriculture sector has been neglected by the state. The leaders are on a door-to-door campaign seeking votes on the eve of the December 1 local level by-elections

Farmers have complained to party leaders that the governments of all levels have not tried to resolve their problems. Voters have complained to the leaders of the central level of various parties about their benefits and incentives as they are busy campaigning for the local level leaders.

“More than 90 percent of the residents here are engaged in agriculture, but our fields do not have irrigation facilities, and we do not even get seeds and fertilizers on time,” says Mohammad Qadir Hussain, a leading farmer of the ward. “We have share the same to almost all the party leaders who have come to seek votes.”

So far, Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma, CPN (Maoist Center) Senior Vice President Narayan Kaji Shrestha, CPN (UML) Politburo and Central Member and Madhesh Province Committee officials have come here to seek votes for their respective party candidates. In response, the leaders have pledged to take the problems of farmers seriously.

In the elections to be held in Ramgopalpur-2, 18 candidates, including seven party candidates and 11 independents, are contesting. There are 2,141 voters in this ward.

The by-election is being held to fill the post fallen vacant due to the death of then ward president Mukesh Kumar Yadav. #election #nepal
