GAIGHAT: Major Kumar Rai of CPN (Maoist Centre) from the ruling alliance has won the poll as the Chairperson of Limchungbung Rural Municipality in Udayapur district. Rai got 1,818 votes against his nearest rival Raj Kumar Rai of the CPN (UML) who garnered 1,338 votes.
Likewise, Pushpa Kumar Rai of the Nepali Congress (NC) won the poll in the post of Vice-Chairperson. Office of the Chief Returning Officer said Pushpa Kumar received 1,640 votes while his rival Gita Karki of the CPN (UML) managed 1,321 votes.
Likewise, CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Aruna Devi Rai has won the election as the Chairperson of Jantedhunga Rural Municipality in Khotang district. Rai was the common candidate of four-party alliance. Rai got 2,881 votes against her nearest rival Shankar Bahadur Rai who got 2,575 votes, Election Officer Man Bahadur Magar said.
Likewise, Khem Bahadur Khadka of the Nepali Congress (NC) has won the election as the Vice-Chairperson by getting 2,805 votes while Khadka’s nearest rival Bimala Rai of CPN (UML) garnered 2,495 votes.
In the local level election taken place in 2017, Aruna Devi and Khadka had contested the poll in the post of chairperson from their respective political parties.
Similarly, CPN (UML) candidate Pradeep Gauchan has been elected the Chairperson of Thasang Rural Municipality in Mustang district.
In the vote counting that concluded on Sunday, Gauchan was declared the winner of Chairperson post. He got 1,144 votes, defeating his closest competitor Nepali Congress’ Bal Kumari Sherchan who collected 1,055.
Likewise, Nepali Congress’ Somal Hirachan won in the Vice-Chairperson post by securing 1,122 votes. Sumita Sherpa from CPN (UML) conceded defeat to Hirachan by a margin of 32 votes. Sherpa received 1,080 votes.
Thasang Rural Municipality had 2,747 voters enlisted. Among them, 2,240 cast their ballots in the May 13 local election.
The CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Chabiram Subedi has been elected to the post of Chairperson of Naumule Rural Municipality in Dailekh district.
Subedi garnered 3,200 votes to win in the local level election held on May 13. His nearest rival from Nepali Congress (NC) Bhade Buda Magar secured 2,544 votes. Budha Magar is also outgoing Chairperson of the same municipality.
Similarly, Ganga Bahadur Shahi, representing CPN (Unified Socialist), was elected the vice-chairperson. He got 2,834 votes and defeated Nepali Congress’ Amrita Singh who received 2,405.
CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist) had entered electoral alliance for the election in the rural municipality having eight wards. Nepali Congress candidates have won in 5 wards, CPN (Unified Socialist) in two wards and CPN (UML) in a ward.
Likewise, the five-party alliance has kept on leading in the vote count which is going on in Bharatpur Metropolis. The alliance candidates for the posts of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Ward Chairs are ahead of the rival candidates till this update.
According to the latest information shared by chief returning officer’s office, Renu Dahal, the CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate for mayoral post, has so far got 2,212 votes while her nearest rival Bijay Subedi from CPN UML got 2,189.
Similarly, Chitrasen Adhikari, a candidate from Nepali Congress for the deputy mayoral post, has got 2,436 votes. His nearest rival from UML-RPP alliance, Himala Gurung, collected 1,065 votes.
Both Renu Dahal and Chitrasen Adhikari represent the parties in five-party alliance.
Meanwhile, independent candidate Jagannath Poudel has garnered 732 votes.
Moreover, at ward no 2 of Bharatpur Metropolis, Manoj Ranabhat from Nepali Congress has so far collected 1,249 votes while his nearest rival from CPN UML Krishna KC got 1,225 votes.
Bharatpur Metropolis recorded total 127,839 voter turnout in the May 13 local election.

Nepali Congress candidates for both the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of Tamankhola Rural Municipality of Baglung district have been elected to the posts.
Joklal Budha was elected the Chairperson collecting 2,707 votes while Hira Kumari Chhantyal was elected to Vice Chairperson collecting 2,719 votes.
Both of them were outside the electoral alliance. It is the second stint of Joklal Budha.
The ruling five parties had fielded their candidates for the local level forgin electoral alliance, but Budha and Chhantyal had objected to the electoral alliance, fielding themselves as chairperson and vice chairpersons respectively.
Nearest rival of Budha, Dev Bahadur Pun representing the CPN Maoist Centre from electoral alliance got only 1,995 votes. Similarly, Nishu Rasaili, nearest rival of Chhantyal was behind 810 votes, thereby losing the vice chairperson post.
