Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai arrested

Kathmandu, Nov 18: Nepal Police team has arrested medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai last night.

According to Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Prasai was arrested from his residence in Bhaktapur late Monday night and is currently being held at the Kathmandu Police Range, Bhadrakali.

Prasai, who identifies himself as the coordinator of the “National Campaign to Save the Nation, Nationality, Religion, and Culture,” had publicly announced that he would intensify protests starting from Mangsir 7 (November 23).

He had been placed under police “notice” after issuing aggressive statements, including threats to “shut down the country.”

A few days ago, Madhav Khatiwada, representing the Prasai group, had even visited the Ministry of Home Affairs with a 26-point demand letter for negotiations.

Meanwhile, Prasai supporters have threatened to organize mass protest beginning today itself. General Secretary of the National Campaign, Prem Kumar Thamsuhang, has said, “By arresting our leader Durga Prasai in an abduction-like manner at midnight, the government has disturbed the peace. Therefore, without waiting until Mangsir 7, we will launch a nationwide protest starting today itself.” #nepal #durga
