Mid-hill highway and Beni-Maldhunga road blocked with landslide

PARBAT: The Parbat-Baglung section of the Mid-Hills Highway has been blocked since last night due to landslides caused by continuous monsoon rains.

The road has been blocked since last night when a landslide fell in Sahasradhara of Kushma Municipality-1. According to the Traffic Police Office, Parbat, there is a problem in removing the debris immediately. He said that efforts will be made to open it as soon as the rain stops.

Similarly, the Beni-Maldhunga road connecting the neighboring districts of Myagdi and Mustang has also been blocked.

According to Traffic Police Chief Krishna Thapa, the road was blocked due to landslide in Farse of Jaljala Rural Municipality-8, Nangliwang, Kerabari of Ward No. 7 and Lamakhet of Ward No. 3. According to him, the road has been blocked since last night but it has not been reopened immediately as the rain have continued and landslides have not stopped.

He said that dozers and security forces were on standby at the moment. Freight vehicles, ambulances and other vehicles carrying food and sick people from Baglung, Myagdi and Mustang have been stranded due to the road closure.

Similarly, most of the roads in the southern region connecting Huwas-Waling road and the district headquarters have been blocked, according to the police. The rains that have been continuing in the area since Saturday have not stopped.
