Minister Gurung promises National Advertisement Policy for market strengthening

Kathmandu, March 28: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has echoed the urgency of National Advertisement Policy for better management and strengthening of advertising market.

Speaking at the second AGM and the first convention of the National Advertisement Association here Friday, the Minister spoke on the practical complexities in advertisement in the absence of timely revisions to the old policies. It has been challenging to take the advertising market in line with the IT development due to old acts and laws, he reiterated.

In his response to the voices from the programme participants for the flexibility in advertisement of beverages, the Minister said discussions with stakeholders concerned could be considered to this regard. The Minister made it clear that the government was sensitive over a shrinking size of advertising market in the face of growing number of media operators.
