Chitwan, Nov 14: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, has distributed blankets to Chepang community.
Sixteen Chepang families of Sapreni of Ichchhakamana rural municipality-1 have been provided with two blankets each.
At a programme organised on Monday, he shared that the supported the Chepang community from the amount he received from the sale of his book, adding it was necessary to protect language and culture of Chepang.
The government would give special priority for the protection of language and culture of marginalized community, he mentioned.
On the occasion, Minister Kirati honoured Bhote Bahadur Chepang and Babari Chepang with Rs 5,000 each for their contribution to protect Chepang culture.
Chairperson of Ichchhakamana rural municipality, Dan Bahadur Chepang, briefed Minister Kirati about condition of Chepang community and tourism possibility of the rural municipality.
He also informed that tourism package would be introduced targeting Chepang community of Ichchhakamana. Minister Kirati also played Deusi Bhailo with Chepang community.
