Minister Regmi hand over appointment letter to officials of Red Cross

KATHMANDU: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi has handed over appointment letters to the officials of the Central Ad Hoc Committee of the Nepal Red Cross Society.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers has recently appointed officials and members of the Red Cross Society.

In a program organized at the Ministry, Minister Regmi has directed the ad hoc committee to complete the convention within three months. “Conclude the convention within three months,” said Minister Regmi.

Earlier, an ad hoc committee appointed by the KP Oli-led government could not convene the convention on the stipulated time.

Minister Regmi informed that the current government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba has formed an ad hoc committee with the mandate to hold the election of the new committee within three months. Stating that the previous government had worked to disintegrate the Red Cross, Minister Regmi said that the employees of the Red Cross had become agitated while working against the law.

She directed the ad hoc committee to immediately stop the agitation of the Red Cross employees and protect the employees.

According to Regmi’s private secretariat, the newly appointed chairman of the ad hoc committee, Sudarshan Prasad Nepal, has promised to form a negotiating committee to address the legitimate demands of the employees by tomorrow.
