Rukum West, Dec 3: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has directed the officials and stakeholders to complete the construction of temporary settlements soon for the people affected from November 3 earthquake.
Minister Sharma directed the District Disaster Management Committee, Nepal, to soon complete the temporary settlement for the quake-hit people since their vulnerability has further increased due to cold.
Minister Sharma, who arrived in Rukum Paschim district along with relief materials to distribute to the quake-hit people, asked the District Disaster Management Committee to soon mobilize the needed human resource for the construction of temporary settlement.
The Council of Ministers had already decided to mobilize security personnel for the construction of residence to the affected communities.
She said that government’s formal letter is not required to mobilize needed human resources in the earthquake-affected.
Minister Sharma viewed that all should join hands together in the time of disaster and asked to mobilize sufficient number of human resource and not to wait for formal processes.
In Jajarkot, Minister Sharma reiterated that all earthquake survivors should be provided with the temporary houses without any delay.
During an interaction programme with the people’s representatives and officials in Nalgadh Municipality in the district on Sunday, Sharma said that the quake survivors’ houses should be reconstructed before the temperature dips.
She was hopeful of speedy construction of the temporary houses for the affected ones after the cabinet meeting last week decided to mobilize security forces to construct houses for the affected households.
She also said that the District Security Committee has the right to request for additional human resource if the existing size of the security forces was insufficient to build the temporary residence.
