Minister Sharma calls new generation to work for culture preservation

Kathmandu, Dec 16: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has said that the new generation should work for the preservation of Nepal’s custom, cultures and traditions.

Addressing the seventh general assembly of Madhyapaschim Literary Council here Saturday, Minister Sharma stated the new generation should remain proactive to end social ills and anomalies and to protect our cultures adding that change in the old political regime was possible due to active participation of youth.

“The way we united for regime change, we all are required to work with integrity for the strengthening of the system,” Minister Sharma added.

Likewise, she observed that the youth should have a role in maintaining order and discipline in the society since those holding power have captured each and every sector in the society.

The Council was established in 2051 BS with the purpose to preserve the ancient talents and encourage the new ones.

On the occasion, Council’s founding chair Keshav Giri said the languages and literature of the Midwest region should be promoted with the robust role of new generation.

The Council also honoured different personalities for their contribution in promoting and preserving the folk cultures of the region.

During the event, ‘Khasani’, a special edition of seminar, was released.

The special edition covers the literary creations, articles and other papers written about the literary status of the Midwest region of Nepal since 2074 BS.
