Khalanga . A minor went missing after falling into the Mahakali River while crossing the river in Byas Rural Municipality-4, Dokat in Darchula via Tuin.
Ten-year-old Deependra Bista of ward-4, Dokat went missing in the river while he was bound to India from Byas of Nepal via Tuin, informed Deepak Khati, a local.
Police Inspector and Information Officer at the District Police Office Darchula, Govinda Bhandari however said no official information has been so far obtained regarding the incident.
He further shared that locals have not yet informed the police about the incident and a team headed by senior assistant police inspector Bharat Adhikari has been mobilized in the spot.
Missing child Deependra was following his mother while she was on the way to India for collecting hay at 2.00 pm on Thursday.
Byas rural municipality spokesperson Narendra Bhatta said they only knew about the incident on Saturday lately as communications facility was very poor in Byas region.
As informed, Deependra was a fourth grader student of Brahmasthan Primary School, Bhatta said.
Folks of Dokad usually go to India for collecting hay and they use Tuin (improvised cable crossing) to cross the Mahakali to reach the area. Though there is a suspension bridge just 100 metres away but the locals are bound to use the Tuin for their convenience.
Khati said the folks may be hesitating to bring the incident to fore with a fear of Tuin removal. RSS
