More than 19,000 students to receive scholarship in KMC

Kathmandu, June 6: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has said that more than 19,000 students to receive scholarships this year.

In the last academic session 2080 BS, 465 out of 504 private schools in the Kathmandu metropolitan area provided scholarships to more than 13,000 students for the first time in the history of the city.

Out of total admitted 149,956 students more than 18,422 have so far received scholarships until Wednesday. The KMC has said that 473 schools have submitted their enrollment details of students.

The Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah has said in social media that the KMC was able to provide scholarships worth about Rs 2 billion to the students of the target category.

“We will monitor the information received, if found to be different, action will be taken according to the law. We have published a public notice to give three days time to the schools that have not submitted the details so far. Schools that do not submit details within three days will be treated as closed schools and action will be taken by canceling the permission or approval granted to the school in accordance with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Education Act, 2075.”

Mayor Shah has further said that the municipality was serious about both lawmaking and their implementation.
