Rasuwa, Oct 18 : The number of trucks and containers going towards Kerung for importing goods consumed in the Nepali market has increased.

Chief of the Rasuwa Police, Bhagyendra Purush Dhakal said that after the conclusion of the Dashain festival daily somewhere between 70 to 80 trucks and containers have been going towards Kerung in Tibet Autonomous Region of China through the Rasuwagadhi transit point, crossing the Nepal-China Friendship bridge, to bring the goods.

It is said the problem of the road being blocked due to the occurrence of landslides frequently has now come to an end with the exit of monsoon.

The Rasuwagadhi transit point has fully come into operation since December 2015. Goods imported through the Rasuwagadhi transit point include fruits like apple, walnut and pears as well as goods including shoes, slippers, thermos, textile, ready-made clothes, chocolates, children’s toys, electric goods, hydropower equipments, among others.

The Rasuwa Customs Office Timure said around 60 trucks and containers return Nepal from Kerung through the transit point daily.

Transportation of goods imported through this transit point has become easier now with the operation of Pasang Lhamu highway at the Syaphrubesi Mailung-Betrawati section and a section towards Dhunche since September 17. These sections of the highway were obstructed due to landslide before that.
