Mukam Ranamaidan, a tale of Nepal-British war bags Madan Purashkar 



Kathmandu, Aug 30: The prestigious Jagdamba-Shree Samman have been awarded to Prof. Yogendra Prasad Yadav and Madan Purashkar to Mohan Mainali for his book ‘Mukam Ranamaidan’.

Kunda Dixit, President of Madan Purashkar Guthi, announced that during the meeting held on Friday.

Researcher and journalist Mohan Mainali has already published several books including Upallo Thalo, Mantha Darayeko Jug, Dekheko Desh, among others.

The Mukam Ranamaidan is the tale of the battle between Nepali and British armies some 200 years ago, particularly at Nalapani. With the big show of force, British army forced Nepal army to sit for talks and agreement which was popularly known as Sugauli Sandhi (Sugauli treaty).

In this battle, a large number of troops  from Nepali and British army lost their lives, including senior commanders.

The show of bravery by the Nepali army men was regarded and appreciated even by the British army.
