Sindhupalchok, Dec 8: As winter begins, the Bhotechaur in Sindhupalchok turns into a stunning blend of mustard fields and sparkling Himalayan peaks.
Every year around November/December, this magical scene attracts both locals and domestic tourists. The terraced fields are covered with blooming mustard flowers, and right behind them, the northern skyline opens up to the Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Dorje Lakpa ranges — making the landscape look even more breathtaking.
According to local farmers, mustard has always been a traditional crop of the area. But in recent years, the combination of these golden fields with snowcapped mountains has started drawing more visitors, giving a positive boost to the local economy.
“As soon as winter begins, tourists from the Kathmandu Valley start coming here for photos, videos, short trips, and to make TikTok and Facebook Reels. It has really boosted local businesses,” said a local resident.
Located close to Kathmandu, Bhotechaur is quickly becoming an easy and popular getaway for internal tourism. On clear days, visitors can capture mustard fields, villages, and Himalayan peaks all in a single frame.
Not only the scenanic view, visitors can have locally cooked delicious food, including Rainbow-trout fish, local chicken, local alcohol, among others.
Bhotechaur lies about 32 kilometers from Kathmandu and can be reached via Bouddha, Jorpati, Sankhu, Jarsing Pauwa, Chauki, and Dharapani, before heading toward Deurali Danda and finally crossing into Kharepani/Giranchour area. #nepal #tourism #himalaya
