My efforts for credibility and trust in judiciary: CJ Raut



Kathmandu, Oct 6: Newly appointed Chief Justice, Prakashman Singh Raut, has vowed his efforts for maintaining trust in and credibility of judiciary.

CJ Raut took the oath of office and secrecy at the President’s Office on Sunday and assumed office later. While assuming the office, he said his attention would be focused on earning trust and repute to the judiciary by reducing stockpile of cases.

“Nepal’s judiciary has returned to normalcy. It is a matter of pride,” he said, adding, “Court is transparent. I endeavour to ensure height of the sanctity of justice. For it, judicial reform is essential. We’ve no option either. Internally, we’re committed.”

Raut further said he would continue furthering the credibility of judiciary.

Raut will lead Nepal’s judiciary for some 18 months. He is the 32nd Chief Justice.

CJ Raut will be retiring on April 1, 2026 on age limit. He was appointed the permanent Justice at Supreme Court on August 1, 2016.

Born in Udayapur district on March 31, 1961, Raut has done BL from Nepal Law Campus. He worked as a legal practitioner for 33 years since 1983.

When he was a legal practitioner, he also worked as President of the Nepal Bar Association. RSS #Nepal
