Kathmandu, Dec 8: The Department of Roads  has decided to move forward with the upgrade work by partially closing the Nagdhunga–Naubise–Malekhu road section.

The construction companies and project authorities stated that continuous movement of vehicles was preventing the construction work from progressing at the required pace.

With the objective of accelerating the construction through effective traffic management, it has been decided to close the road for five hours daily from December 10-16.

The District Administration Offices of Kathmandu and Dhading have jointly issued a public notice regarding the closure.

The Nagdhunga–Naubise section of the Tribhuvan Highway is currently in the final stage of blacktopping and upgrading.

Among this stretch, the Nagdhunga–Piplamod section within Kathmandu district has been given high priority. This section is narrower than other parts, and blacktopping requires the simultaneous operation of heavy equipment and transport vehicles.

Similarly, the Galchhi–Gajuri section in Dhading is also narrow and risky, and the project has informed that road widening is necessary in the Pokharebhir area.

According to the notice, the road from Nagdhunga to Piplamod and the Pokharebhir area will remain closed from December 10-16  daily from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During this period, the public has been requested to use alternative routes and to manage travel schedules before or after the closure time.

During the closure hours, vehicles traveling from Kathmandu toward Naubise will be halted at the Nagdhunga checkpoint.

The notice states that the movement of emergency vehicles such as ambulances, security force vehicles, fire engines, and hearses will be facilitated by traffic police.

Vehicles traveling toward Kathmandu from Mugling will be stopped at Khani Khola (Naubise), Jungikhola (Thakre), and at points including Galchhi, Baireni, and Mastar for the Galchhi–Gajuri section.

Small and medium vehicles may use alternative routes if necessary. As per the notice, Sitapaila–Bhimdhunga, Ramkot–Dharke, and Samakhusi–Tokha–Chhahare roads may be used as alternative routes.

All halted vehicles will be allowed to resume travel only after 3:30 p.m., the notice further states. #road #nepal
