Kathmandu, March 28: Today’s meeting of the National Assembly (NA) was adjourned for an hour due to obstruction by the opposition lawmakers.
NA Chair Narayan Prasad Dahl postponed the meeting for an hour after lawmakers from the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist) disrupted the meeting demanding the prime minister’s reply.
Earlier, lawmaker Tul Prasad Bishwakarma had demanded the Prime Minister’s reply on the decision to remove Kulman Ghising, managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
Article 76 (10) of the Constitution of Nepal states that the Prime Minister and the minister concerned will be accountable to the Parliament; therefore, we want a response from the PM (in line with this provision),” he said.
Claiming that the issue of removing Ghising was linked to good governance, he said the issue had created a new ripple. Bishwakarma also said that the amendment proposal put forward by the opposition in the bill to replace the ordinance remained to be addressed.
Though the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister had said that they would discuss the shortcomings in the ordinance and the issues that are in conflict with other acts, it has not been done,” he said.#nepal #political #rss
