National Coffee Day to be marked



Kathmandu, Nov 19: The National Tea and Coffee Development Board is marking National Coffee Day on November 22.

The Board is organizing an event in the Capital City on the day for the exhibition of Nepali coffee, its briefing and testing by keeping stalls of Nepali coffee from among the entrepreneurs.

Exhibition of coffee-related activities would be done to share information of the coffee cooperative organizations.

Executive Director of Board Benup Raj Prasain said that presentations and interaction programmes would be convened on the day in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.

According to Board, Nepal exported around 77 metric tonnes of coffee worth Rs 130 million in the Fiscal Year 2079/80 BS while the import crossed Rs 325.8 million in the same year.

Likewise, Nepal’s coffee export recorded Rs 149.2 million in the Fiscal Year 2080/81 BS against the import of Rs 420 million of the same year.

In order to promote coffee production and reduce imports, coffee farming is done on 4,309 hectares of land and around 17 per cent of the country’s total production was exported abroad, the Board shared.

Based on the flavor and quality, Nepal’s coffee has a higher price compared to other countries in the international market.

As shared by the Board officials, the average price of per kilogram Nepal’s coffee is 16 US Dollars. RSS #nepal
