National consensus necessary to solve national problems: Prime Minister Dahal

Kathmandu, May 27: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that it is necessary for political parties and leadership to move forward as one to face the challenges of economic crisis, good governance, social justice and prosperity.

In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, while answering the questions raised during the discussion on the policies and programs of the government for the next fiscal year 2080/81 BS, he said that it is necessary for all parties to stand together from the point of view of solving national problems and addressing the needs and desires of the people.

“Somewhere we need to maintain understanding and consensus”, he said, “Whatever problems and challenges are facing the country, national consensus is needed.” Prime Minister Dahal said that the fight against corruption can be won only by working together.

Mentioning that the government has paid attention to all the problems seen in the country, he said that the government has also taken the matter related to money laundering seriously. “The government is paying attention to the irregularities seen in revenue collection and other sectors, they should be corrected step by step, for that, the support of all political parties and the House is needed”, Prime Minister Dahal said.

Stating that he has taken the third term as a challenge and an opportunity, he said that it is necessary to self-examine to end the haste in which the change achieved through the struggle of the people is destroyed. “You cannot change the state of mind created in the people without ‘correcting’ yourself, I have realized that I am in a great ordeal, I have decided to dedicate myself to good governance, social justice and prosperity,” he said.

Prime Minister Dahal said that everyone’s support is needed to start the prosperity campaign. Mentioning that he feels that now the government and the people are coming together, he said that the steps taken by the government and the sentiments of the people are getting closer.

He said that the parliament is a place to find positive solutions through constructive discussions on the best interests and concerns of the country and the people. He said that it is necessary to focus everyone’s attention in the direction of making democracy more advanced and cultured while making the democratic practice more sophisticated.

He said that the policy and program was presented with a new thinking for economic and social transformation.

“Basic principles of state management, directive principles and policies, commitments to the international community and long-term importance included in periodic plans have been prioritized in the policy and program,” he said.

Prime Minister Dahal assured that the policy and program gives direction to the government’s policy priorities and other detailed programs will be addressed through the budget. “Our national aspiration has been reflected in the policy and program, the goal of building a strong and just Nepal while protecting national sovereignty, geographical integrity, freedom, and national interests has been moved forward with a solid program,” he said.

Prime Minister Dahal said that the policy and program has put forward a clear plan for the strengthening of federalism, structural reform and revival of the economy, modernization and commercialization of the agricultural sector, promotion of the industrial sector, production and employment growth.

“A new special program will be introduced in the budget for increasing agricultural production and job creation, it will create a new environment in seven hundred and fifty-three municipalities,” he said.
