
Okhaldhunga, May 17: Nepali Congress leader Mahesh Kormocha passed away on Friday night. He was 80-year-old.
Former President of Nepali Congress in Okhaldhunga district and former President of District Development Committee, Kormocha, died in course of treatment at B&B Hospital, Kathmandu.
Born in Okhaldhunga in 2002 BS, he had significantly contributed to Nepali politics. He was imprisoned for eight years in different period during the struggle for restoration of democracy.
Kormocha became NC District President in Okhaldhunga and President of District Development Committee twice after restoration of multi-party system in 2046 BS.
He had quit the Nepali Congress in 2073 BS and joined Naya Shakti Party led by former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and later he left Naya Shakti Party, becoming a joint-coordinator of Nepal Democratic Forum led by Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar.
Kormocha returned to NC again and actively involved in NC’s politics. The last rites of Kormocha would be performed at Khijichandeshwori of Okhaldhunga, according to family source. He is survived by a wife, a son and a daughter.#nepal #Nepali Congress #rss
