Kathmandu, Sept 6: Nepali Congress joint-general secretary Mahendra Yadav has been attacked with a sharp weapon in broad daylight here today.
He came under attack when he was embarking a vehicle after attending a programme at the Reporters’ Club in Bhrikutimandap, according to Superintendent of Police, Kumudh Dhungel, the Spokesperson for District Police Range, Kathmandu.
Police have arrested Shyam Sapkota, 47, from Bidur municipality-7 in Nuwakot along with a weapon used in the attack.
The NC leader suffered a deep cut to the back of his head in the incident and he is presently under treatment at local National Trauma Centre. As of now, the motive behind the attack remains unconfirmed and police have launched an investigation into it.
