Kathmandu, Nov 1 : The central committee meeting of the Nepali Congress has given authority to its office-bearers to decide on the candidates for the upcoming by-election.
The by-election is taking place on November 30 this year for over four dozens vacant posts at local levels, House of Representatives (HoR) and Provincial Assembly (PA).
Furthermore, the meeting unanimously approved the proposal to include NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, its senior leaders Ram Chandra Poudel and Krishna Prasad Sitaula in the meeting of the office-bearers to make decisions on the candidates for the upcoming by-election.
Moreover, decision was made to approve the name of Tilak Rai to vie for the vacant post of Mayor in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan city of Sunsari district.
Rai’s name was unanimously recommended by the NC’s Sunsari district working committee for the same.
The next meeting of the NC’s central committee on November 3 would make the final decisions on the candidates, informed Sharma.
