Kathmandu, Aug 23: Chairperson of ruling Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed his concerns about ‘the level of disciplines being gradually eroded inside the party’.

Saying ideological degradation is taking place in communist party, the former Prime Minister said he felt the tendency of taking decision individually instead of collectively was taking over lately.

“We were more disciplined yesterday. We reached this state guided by self discipline. Now the level of discipline has eroded. The tendency of ignoring collective welfare has increased, which should get reforms and the responsibility to change it has fallen on our shoulders,” he said addressing a training session organised today by the Progressive Engineering Association Nepal in Lalitpur.

Stating the tendency among Communists of forgetting people’s interest upon reaching power, he expressed his concerns over whether their (Communists) performance was gradually switching in a bourgeois style.

Class struggle had taken a significant role to arrive at the present situation, ensuring people’s sovereignty, he said.

Reminding the cause of the downfall of Communist power in the Soviet Union and some other countries, he said bourgeois had never been able to fight with Communists, but once Communists gained power, they were spoiled by bourgeois, reversing power without a single bullet.

He cautioned the risk of losing republic, secularism and federalism if promises made with the people were forgotten.

“In the Eastern Europe, the State power was reversed not because of foreign meddling or of any armed conflict. People chased them (rulers) away when the latter started living a loyal life.”

He was of the view of adopting Marxism as the guiding principle of life.
