Kathmandu: Disputes within the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) have not stopped yet. Although the party leaders of the first and second tier rushed around carrying letters, the animosity and mistrust seen at the top tier is widening.
No agreement has been reached between the two chairpersons KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on convening the secretariat meeting. In his capacity as executive chairman, Prachanda has called a meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
However, it is unlikely that all members of the secretariat will attend the meeting as they did a few days ago. It is understood that Chairman Prachanda, who felt pressure on him, called the meeting.
A similar meeting convened by Prachanda at the party office a few days ago ended informally. Only Chairman Prachanda, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal, Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam and party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha were present at the meeting.
Other members of the party secretariat include party president and prime minister KP Sharma Oli, General Secretary Bishnu Poudel, Ishwor Pokharel and Minister of Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal.
The Dhumbarahi meeting scheduled to be held on Tuesday afternoon again will conclude as informal? Bishnu Sapkota Jugal, press coordinator of party Chairman Prachanda, said that it was not clear whether a formal meeting would be held or not.
Last Saturday, a letter was handed over to party Chairman KP Sharma Oli to convene the meeting on behalf of the majority secretariat members. In response, Chairman Oli is understood to have given written instructions to convene the meeting as per the party statuate.
According to Prachanda-led Secretariat members, Prime Minister and party Chairman Oli has reconstituted the cabinet without prior consent, has not consulted with party leaders on different political appointments and has not paid attention to party operations.
